used to have satellite television in my home, but I realized that it was only being used as a time-waster for my children and the only thing I watched religiously was Democracy Now! Now, I read online news from Democracy Now instead of watch.
Online news from the Middle East is provided by Mosaic on my MyYahoo page. The viewpoint from this source of online news is very different than the online news from mainstream American media.
Beyond my need for important world online news and liberal viewpoints, I use online news as a source of entertainment. I subscribe to Reuters' Oddly Enough online news.
I also subscribe to Strange News online news from the Associated Press and Odd News from the Canadian Press. The online news that I get from these sources is only for amusement.

USA Today has online news that is just as insipid as their printed news. It is offensive to me that news for an entire nation can be boiled down to some abomination of real news. The stories are condescending and short, just like American attention spans.
